About Us

As a company our group has been trading for over 35 years, our parant company the Hire or Buy Group Ltd was founded back in 1974 and strated life as a tool hire business offering small to medium sizes local companies tool hire and small sales at the best local rates available, the business soon grew and evolved taking on a new depot in St Neots, this was a massive step into a new world of supply, with the introduction of heavier plant hire, aggregates and gas, it was soon very clear that the business was growing with a wider customer base, it evolved once again, with 1 becoming 2, the new Biggleswade depot was born.

Biggleswade soon grew and over the years had grown out of 2 locations, now residing in a large commercial unit off Shortmead Street it is the companies 2nd string to our now impressive bow. With St Neots & Biggleswade trade counters and the companies sales side taking off, we soon realised that as before our customer base was becoming larger, after short succession we opened 2 new trade counters, our Stevenage and Huntingdon depots were born, and a new website added to our portfolio.

With our company evolving from a small business into a larger group the internet was the next way to move on, after much reasearch we soon realised that with size came buying power, so we moved forward and launched HobUK in 2004 with a small number of staff, we have grown the website and our range of products to offer quality tools, machinery and equipment and honest prices with the best support available.
