At HobUK we only supply tools that are manufactured for UK sale, every tool we have is sourced directly from either the manufacturer or the sole UK distributors, this means that they are covered by a full warranty and are CE marked.

We supply tools that are indeed manufactured and sold all over the world, however by only dealing with UK distributors and manufacturers we maintain both a reliable and safe service to all our customers, put simply - if it's in warranty and in the unlikely event that it breaks we fix it*

Tools and machinery that do not have a valid CE mark can pose more than just an issue should a warranty claim be required, it is accepted that tools outside the UK & Europe that do not have or require CE approval can be of a lower spec than genuine UK tools, this is simply due to differences in Health & Safety requirements it does not necessarily mean a danger to the operator, but can more likely mean problems with parts and in some cases performance.

Petrol tools pose a greater problem, although they may look the same, the requirements again from a Health & Safety side can mean that protective guards etc may not required outside the UK & Europe, this can potentially pose a threat to the operator should an injury occur, employers of people operating machinery should be very wary of "grey imports" if an accident occurs and the machine is not CE marked serious penalties could apply.

You will also find that CE approved petrol machines will have different carb settings, fuels in the UK & Europe can vary from fuel grades in the USA, this can cause the machine to lack power and run poorly, this may also have a knock-on effect with higher emissions due to poor running, higher fuel consumption and even starting problems.

Many insurance companies in the UK will not cover any tool or machine if it does not carry a CE mark, this could pose problems and personal expense should the worst happen.

*We are also approved warranty agents for the tools we sell, manufacturers of professional power tools and petrol equipment often insist on agents having workshop facilities for servicing and repairs - we do. Should you have an issue with ANY tool you have purchased from us, simply contact customer services, and they'll sort it, or if you prefer, simply send the tool back to us at our address with details of the fault along with a copy of your invoice and we'll fix it. Warranty claims are carried out on faults that have occurred through manufacturer defects, not through damage by miss-use, you will be notified of our findings before any work is undertaken should the fault not be a warranty issue.
