Makita RBC2510
This is another real lightweight contender that proves to be too big in the performance stakes. It weighs fractionally less than the Tanaka and boasts a 24.5cc engine, providing a power rating of 0.98kW (1.3hp).
“It is very lightweight and is no effort to use” says Blake. “The shaft is slightly longer than on the Tanaka, so it is more comfortable for my back. But they are both very easy to start.” Like other grass trimmers from Makita, the RBC2510 has a primer to aid firing up.
“It’s a good tool for maintaining gear dens and trimming after mowing”. Blake adds. Its also robust and delivers quite a punch. The head is a “bump-feed” twin-line. This machine also has a decent fuel tank. It holds 0.5 litres and is well positioned for filling without spillage. Vibration, according to our testers is “nil” or perhaps “negligible”. The loop handle is well designed, nicely covered and comfortable to grip. The RBC2510 is also provided with its own toolkit.
